How to Stay Healthy During the COVID-19 Outbreak
Staying at home and distancing yourself is essential to stopping the spread of COVID-19. While this change in routine may leave some feeling down or flustered as they adjust to everyday life, think of this time as an opportunity to focus on your health.
Here are a few tips for staying healthy during home quarantine:
Sustain a sanitary home environment
To reduce the risk of spreading germs in your home, frequently wash your hands for 20 seconds and disinfect any high-touch surfaces such as door knobs, light switches, countertops and more.
Continue to exercise/stay active
With gym facilities closing due to COVID-19, members are turning to effective at-home workouts. Fortunately, there are a plethora of “at-home” workout apps and workouts that people can use to stay active.
Here are a few exercises that can be done at home with little or no equipment:
- Walking or running around the neighborhood
- Watching a YouTube video (Dance cardio, HIIT, Yoga, etc.)
- Performing bodyweight exercises (Squats, sit-ups, push-ups, etc.)
Eat healthy
As most of us are currently working from home, it is easy to walk over to the pantry and snack all day. Instead of reaching for cookies or chips, try a healthier alternative such as vegetables or fruits. Planning out meals can also help you create healthy lunch or dinner ideas that will fuel your body with the right nutrients to boost your immune system.
Stay positive
Although it is important to stay aware of the latest information regarding COVID-19, it is very easy to become wrapped up in information about the pandemic, which can definitely increase your stress and anxiety levels. The CDC recommends that you,
- Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media
- Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate
- Make time to unwind
- Connect with others
Please remember to practice safe social distancing during this time and remember to wash your hands regularly. Rejuvinix offices are currently closed, but we will keep our patients updated when we reopen.
